DnD: Bombay Bonanza!

28th Mar’09, 1.05a.m.

Dear Diary,

Tired, tired, tired… I’m not sure why though; I hardly did anything strenuous other than taking a whole lot of photos! I think this is perhaps the first time I’ve actually used up my entire memory stick space in one go. In any case, Dnd this year was by far the best – and I’ve been to three so I should know.

I must say I was pretty psyched up for the event. The location for one was something I had great anticipation for. I mean its One Degree Fifteen! Talk about exclusive! Call me swaku but me and my friends were positively gushing over the Red Ferrari parked at the entrance.

It was claaaaa-ssssyyy, and I was totally out of place. A coupe of friends and I had decided to dress up as Kachang Puteh men in lieu of the Bombay Bonanza theme. This meant a $4.50 blue cloth draped around our waist over a large oversized plain white T and flip-flops on our feet. We had obviously forgotten that the club had not been exclusively booked by Sheares Hall and I had to scuffle behind my better -dressed friends in the attempt to hide from the gazes directed at me which I am sure were disapproving.

Night of 77 Stars

written by Xinying,

Sheares Hall Block C pulled out all the stops for the annual Night of 77 stars. This year’s theme was Journey to the C, a quirky play on the great Chinese novel Journey to the West (西游记). Despite the wet weather, C-Towners came down in droves to support their blockmates. There was also a large show of support from other Shearites who filled the chairs in front of the stage and even spilled onto the rooftop parapets.

In line with the Chinese classic theme, four C-Towners were dressed up elabolrately as Tripitake (唐三藏),  Monkey King (孙悟空),  Zhu Bajie (猪八戒)and Sha Wujing (沙悟净).  Tripitake embarked on a quest to retrieve the Buddhist scriptures with his three disciples, accompanied occasionally by his trusty White Horse (白马), to bless Shearites with CAP 5.0.

Sheares Production 0809: Accidental Death of an Anarchist

by Vincent

6 months of hard work. 2 nights at the UCC, an infinite amount of blood, sweat and tears – such were the sacrifices made by every comm. member in making Sheares Production 0809: Accidental Death of an Anarchist a resounding success!

This year, SP travels out of the land of lush forestry and talking animals back to modern civilization… well, not so modern maybe. Set in Italy in the 1970’s, the play tells the story of The Maniac who infiltrates a police station impersonating a judge after an accused anarchist fell to his death from the police station. What ensues is a hilarious tale which will leave you laughing your behinds off for the entire show (Warning: Side effects may include stomach cramps and tearful eyes).

Amplitude 08/09

by Vincent

Amplitude is an annual physicist’s convention concert performed by the choirs and acapella groups of the 6 halls of residence of NUS held at UCC.

As we waited for our turn to perform, the SH holding room was bustling with activity. There was practice and warming up of voices. While the girls were busy putting on their make up and prettifying themselves.

But as always there is what every Shearite does best.

Camwhore!

Disclaimer: The following account may not be 100% accurate as this writer (unlike YOU people) was stuck in the holding room and did not have the luxury of watching and enjoying the entire show.
