It was the first day of recess week and I’m sure most of us would have some plans to kick back and relax a little. Perhaps going to the movies? Or a shopping spree? Or maybe just hide in our rooms and hibernate? But not our dedicated Voluntary Corps members and their volunteers. It was the day of their CNY lunch with the elderly!

As the scorching hot sun blazed mercilessly on at high noon, the Shearites began their arduous journey towards the Rolling Wok braving the elements and dangers with only one objective in their hearts: to warm the hearts of the elderly and to make them smile.  Read more...

The Sheares Hall Photography Competition is an annual event organized by the Sheares Hall Photocomm for all Shearites.

The theme for our competition this year, Seize The Moment, challenges us to capture and preserve those powerful and fleeting moments that come and go in our everyday life. Moments that we wish we could relive all over again. Moments that will change everything forever.

It has been a year of many firsts for Sheares Hall and the night of the 18^th of February 2009 was the mark of another historical first for our beloved hall. It was the first ever combined Dinner and Dance (DnD) Pre-event and IHG Closing Supper.

To kick start the event, our lovely emcees, Chee Kiang and Emily, introduced the pageant contestants from each of the blocks as they strutted their stuff on stage with a catwalk. Looks like somebody’s been practicing their catwalk a lot lately.

Perfecta : the first time I’d come across this word was in the SWOC0809 blog, where Andy (Marketing I/C then) defined it as “the defining moment of your life.”

So what is this ‘Perfecta’ that they spoke of?

Does it really exist – this defining moment, when life suddenly has meaning, when you’ve finally found your purpose?

Then, I pondered, on the many different occasions and scenarios, whereby one might be able to achieve Perfecta.

Could it be the time when you scored that winning point for Team Sheares during IHG?
