Dear aspiring writers and layout artistes,

First and foremost, thank you for your interest in Hall Publications 09/10. For the freshies, welcome to SHOUT! While you’re here feel free to explore around to get an idea of what Hall Pub does.

Now, let’s get down to business, shall we? As you should know from the recruitment poster in the lift, you are required to submit an article or layout design, depending on what you are applying for. Here are a few tips and guidelines to help you in preparing your work.

Writers

1. No word limit is imposed. But do remember that (unlike other things in life), longer is not necessarily better. Articles should be succinct and maximally entertaining.
2. Read the past articles on the SHOUT website for inspiration and to get an idea of the style of writing.

Layout artistes

1. You may use any software to design your layout (eg. Adobe Photoshop, MS Powerpoint, Indesign, etc.). However, please convert your final product into a PDF file before submission.
2. Any article may be used for your layout work. If you cannot find an appropriate article, click here for a suggested article. Another suggestion would be to use other past articles from the SHOUT website.
3. Try to have more interaction with the text in your design.
